Introducing NTL
Founded in the US in 1947, the NTL Institute’s purpose is to advance the field of applied behavioural science and to develop change agents for effective leadership of organisations of all types. It does this by delivering a comprehensive range of company-based and public programmes, and by publishing research findings on organisational change and group and leadership development. NTL is credited with conceiving the idea of experiential learning. For sixty years, the NTL Institute has served as an incubator for many of the theories and methods used in organisations around the world. NTL is the founding institution of Organisation Development.
Partnership with NTL
Q&E is passionate about increasing understanding of Organisation Development and raising standards of practice among organisation leaders, Human Resources professionals and, especially, OD practitioners. Having played an instrumental role in helping the Roffey Park Business School set up the first UK OD practitioner continuous education programme, and in working with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development to enhance the OD programmes it offers through its conferences and external courses, we decided to make the NTL OD certificate programme - one of the most prestigious and in-depth OD programmes - available to UK and European OD practitioners.
Some of NTL’s Key Contributions
- NTL helped to establish the Organisation Development Network, the leading global organisation for practitioners in the field. NTL and the OD Network have maintained a close working partnership for more than 30 years.
- NTL also played an important role in creating the Fielding Institute (Now Fielding Graduate University), the premier global graduate university for OD.
- NTL offers a Master of Science in Organisation Development (MSOD) degree in conjunction with the American University in Washington D.C.
- It also publishes the well known Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, the leading international journal on the effects of emergent and planned change.
- In addition to its Organisation Development Certificate programme, NTL offers the Diversity Leadership and Appreciative Inquiry Certificate Programme. The NTL Institute has four hundred members worldwide, six of whom are based in the UK.
Q&E join up with NTL
In 2006, Q&E decided to take steps to become a partner organisation with NTL, with the aim of expanding the United Kingdom’s resources for OD consulting and training services and raising the standards of practice in the UK to meet those of the NTL Institute. NTL/Q&E combines the resources and capabilities of the full NTL global network with the extensive local knowledge and experience of four UK-based consultancy firms: Quality & Equality, Philip J Mix Associates, the Chaos Game Consultancy, and Castle Consultants International. All four of these consultancy firms are led by UK-based NTL members.
NTL/Q&E Organisation Development Certificate and Key Events
The NTL/Q &E Organisation Development Certificate Programme is a 6-module, 14-month programme now in its third round. It has already contributed significantly to the growth of a community of impressive OD practitioners. Q&E also works with fellow NTL members to bring distinguished OD scholars/practitioners to Europe to further expand understanding of the field of OD. Recent events are the lecture series by Edgar Schein, and Robert Marshak.
