Culture Change Using Appreciative Inquiry Methodology

Q&E has supported an organisation's internal change agent in leading a new, ground-breaking initiative to change the organisational culture without using traditional change methods.

Q&E used Appreciative Inquiry to inform the change model and worked with the internal change agent to make the change process fit the objectives and mission of the organisation and enable it to be executed at divisional level.

The change process involved:

  • one of the biggest face-to-face staff consultations ever held in the UK leading to the generation of an organisation-wide change plan
  • staff across the organisation influencing the priorities of the change plan
  • immediate implementation of key recommendation

Redesign of Recruitment & Selection Processes

Q&E has helped to redress difficulties in recruiting and retaining talented people which were creating organisation imbalance.

Using our research into current best practice and an audit of existing Recruitment and Selection processes we:

  • Re-designed the processes
  • Piloted their implementation
  • Compiled a handbook
  • Trained 65 internal change agents to anchor the new processes into the organisation

Handling Transition

Q&E has provided active support to an organisation preparing for a merger.

This involved:

  • Facilitation of over 10 workshops/meetings on handling transition and change with the Executive team, senior managers and middle managers
  • Strengthening internal staff capacity through the development of a pool of facilitators who will continue to work on these issues with staff and volunteers at regional and local level as the merger takes place.
